The Virginia Foundation for Healthy Youth (VFHY) empowers Virginia’s youth to make healthy choices by reducing and preventing youth tobacco and nicotine use, substance use, and childhood obesity.
VFHY is seeking a full-time Public Engagement Coordinator to connect community organizations and individuals through public relations/social media, educational opportunities, agency events, and serving on coalitions and workgroups.
Qualified applicants will have experience in preparing and placing messages on a variety of social media platforms, working with graphic designers, coordinating events, and serving on coalitions or workgroups. Applicants must demonstrate strong writing ability, social media skills, and interpersonal skills necessary to interface with a variety of individuals and organizations.
Major responsibilities of the position include:
Preferred Qualifications:
Degree in communications, writing, or similar degree.
At least one year of work experience in a related field.
Experience in using social media in a professional setting.
Experience in pulling data from social media, email, and website.
Experience in copy writing in a professional setting.
Experience researching to assist compiling talking points and fact sheets.
Experience in hosting meetings on a technology platform.
Experience interfacing with a variety of organizations and staff.
