Status of Reduce Tobacco Use Conference : VFHY
news

The Virginia Foundation for Healthy Youth (VFHY) takes the health and safety of our conference attendees very seriously. We are aware of the latest guidelines issued by CDC around COVID-19/Coronavirus and have sought further guidance from the Office of the Virginia State Health Commissioner. With that said, VFHY has concluded that we need to cancel the scheduled Reduce Tobacco Use Conference and Substance Use Prevention Summit next month in Alexandria, Virginia.

Hotel Accommodations and Travel
If you have already made hotel and travel reservations, you will need to cancel directly with whom you booked. If your hotel reservation was made using the room block at the Hilton Alexandria Mark Center, you can contact them directly at 703-845-1010. You may also cancel your reservation using the link provided by the hotel in your reservation confirmation email.

Conference Registration Fees
VFHY will automatically issue you a full refund of your conference fees. We ask that you give our team up to 30 days to complete this process. If your refund is issued on a credit/debit card the transaction will appear with the name Prevention Connections, our co-hosting organization.

We realize you may have questions and we understand the importance of providing attendees with as much information as possible. We encourage you to read through our current list of FAQs (below).

If you have a question that is not answered here, please email Henry Harper via email at hharper@vfhy.org with RTU 2020 in the subject line.

We are sorry for any inconvenience this creates, but we feel this is in the best interest of everyone. Thank you for understanding.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

Why cancel the conference now?

This was not an easy decision. VFHY staff consulted with the latest CDC guidelines and with the Office of the Virginia State Health Commissioner regarding this decision. Ultimately, the situation is continuing to escalate, and we wanted to give our sponsors, speakers, attendees, and staff as much notice as we possibly could.

When will the next Reduce Tobacco Use Conference be held?

We are working to reschedule our conference, likely in spring 2021.  We will send information to you as soon as we have additional details.

Will I get a refund of the registration fees?

All participants will automatically receive a refund of the registration fees.  Please allow a period of time for this to be completed. If your refund is issued on a credit/debit card the transaction will appear with the name Prevention Connections, our co-hosting organization.
