The Virginia Foods for Virginia Kids Initiative builds the capacity and commitment of Virginia school divisions to increase scratch cooking and serve more fresh, local, and culturally inclusive meals. Hear from partners on program elements, monitoring and evaluation of this comprehensive approach to supporting student health, environmental stewardship, and workforce development.

In this session participants will:

  • Learn strategies to incorporate fresh and local foods into school nutrition.
  • Provide appropriate training to the school nutrition workforce to offer more nutritious offerings.
  • Understand methods to evaluate the outcomes of incorporating locally-available foods to increase student health.
